Can, Chet Baker, Helmet, The Donnas, Stereolab, The Cramps, Kraftwerk, Chopin, Miles Davis, Spider Heart, Battles, Iggy & The Stooges, Bach, Velvet Underground.

O Bosque / Woodland recordings 2015

OVONOVO is a trio from São Paulo making instrumental rock.
It was formed in the first half of 2015, after a gestation period with various musicians interspersed.

Bruno Hiss, a member of the collective of experimental music Al Reves, is the one who’s idealized OVONOVO and plays bass and baritone guitar. Besides experimentalism, Hiss feels comfortable with punk and garage.

The composer Daniel Mauricio has been playing his trumpet with Hiss a long time. He treasures jazz, choro, classical music and rock.

Having played drums with bands such Speed Whale in Santos (between 1992 and 1993), O Passeio de Victor in São Vicente (1995 and 1996), Barins (2009) and In Cases in England (2009 and 2010), now Cesar Zanin wields the sticks with Hiss and Mauricio in OVONOVO.

Some of the influences that the trio’s had come from artists such as Morphine, Can, Chet Baker, Helmet, The Donnas, Stereolab, The Cramps, Kraftwerk, Chopin, Miles Davis, Spider Heart, Battles, Iggy & The Stooges, Bach, Velvet Underground.

In the first half of 2015 OVONOVO (yet unnamed) rehearsed at AD Rock studio.
In July the trio recorded its (yet) short repertoire - live - with Alexandre Marino Fernandez in the studio Take One of Mauricio de Caro Esposito.

The EP DEMO ÍONS is released on the 18th August 2015 by DIY label O Bosque/Woodland recordings, with photography and artwork by Rodrigo Dário.

The trio's plans for the near future are summarized in making shows to mature repertoire and then go into the studio to record.
